Simple answer "NO". You cannot restore a backup from a higher version of SQL Server on a lower version of SQL Server.

Let me also tell you . I am restoring a single database not the whole db into the 2005 server.

Thanks So much Pat
Is there any Veritas T/N?

Its a limitation of SQL, I doubt if Veritas has any published article for this.

You neeed to install at least SQL 2008 R2 binaries on the destination server, SQL is backward compatible but for good reasons not forward compatible.
