Hello.
I need help with this error. Opened up a case with Veritas and the Tech says it is beyond netbackup and is an OS issue, could be virtual memory or some tuning with SQL.

I thought may be some one in the forum has experienced this error.

We are backing up SQL DB (SQL version 2005) on windows 2003 (Client) using SQL agent for Netbackup 5.1 MP5, master is Solaris with 5.1MP5. We backup fine, while doing restores, small databases get restored but big DB of 200 GB gives error after restoring may be 180 Gb and the error in Job monitor is:

Socket read failed: errno = 131 - Connection reset by peer
Cannot write data to socket, Broken pipe.

Netbackup SQL log shows error:

BackupIoRequest::WaitForIoCompletion: read failure on backup device 'VNBU0-476-1104'. Operating system error 995(The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.).

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

By any chance you are trying to restore it to a shared folder/drive.

I would recommend to look at your NIC settings and check if there were/are any collisions.

Also, create bphdb log directory on the client for detailed logging on DB backup/restore related activity.

Rakesh, It is not a shared drive. Veritas team has already looked into dbcleint logs on client.
