Script for knowing the backup speed

koribilli12

Hello Everyone,

Do we have any script or command to know the backup speed of particular policy and that can be sent to our email id?

For ensuring we have good speed for that particular policy.

Any comments and inputs highly appreciated

Regards

Kishore

Not out of the box.

What I did many years ago was getting all the KB/written per sec from the bptm/bpdm debug logs, and then import into excel with a trend line, to see if general performance was increasing of decreasing. Today, you can get kb/written info from the activity monitor text.

You are welcome to steal the idea :D

There's a KB/s column within the Activity Monitor for each backup job.

This can also be acquired using the bpdbjobs NetBackup CLI command.  I doubt whether anyone has a generic off-the-shelf script for you which would work in any NetBackup environment.

Do you have OpsCenter?  There might be an in-built report to achieve what you want.  If not, and if you are not a scripter, but are willing to learn a little bit about custom SQL queries, and you have OpsCenter Analytics, then this from @VoropaevPavel might help you towards working out a custom specific SQL query:

Nice answer from @tom_sprouse here:

https://vox.veritas.com/t5/OpsCenter/OpsCenter-client-backup-performance-report/td-p/626848

...and another from @MilesVScott which demonstrates an iterative approach to achieving what you want:

https://vox.veritas.com/t5/OpsCenter/OPS-ANALYTICS-CUSTOM-REPORT-SQL-QUERY/td-p/620053

...I mean this second link as an example that sometimes it's not immediately obvious what actually needs to to be specified in an SQL query, but also that it can be worth perservering with custom SQL queries in OpsCenter.

I was going to suggest OpsCenter as well, I seem to recall there is a out-of-the-box OpsC report for speed.
