Did you mean:

Sharepoint object exclude list

Is anyone backing up Sharepoint using exclude list to exclude one or more objects under the "Microsoft SharePoint Resource:\"?

I had been testing this, but it didn't seem to exclude the objects I add into the list. But I remember it used to work back in NB6.5.x.

Current setup is:

NB7.0.1 on master/media server, SP frontend & backend, Sharepoint 2007

How I did it was in the SP frontend BAR GUI, expand the  "Microsoft SharePoint Resource:\" , select the object I want to exclude and add into the exclude list. Restart NBU services, retry backup but it still pick up everything.

I know there is a workaround for this by breaking down the objects you want to backup explicitly in the backup selection, but there is too much hassle for that.

Anyone can test this out for me, whether you're in NB6.5.x, 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.1+, or Sharepiont 2010 it doesn't matter, like to know if this is working for your environment.

Thanks a lot!

Files to the Exclude list:
Microsoft SharePoint Resources:\Web Application name\Index-DB*

http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC3675 - page 58

Exclude the Index database from incremental backups. Add the directive for an individual Index
database to the Exclude list:
Microsoft SharePoint Resources:\http://Portal name\Index DB*

http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC3675 - page 60

The manual has a lot listed about it.

If it doesn't work.. collect logs to find out why exclude got ignored or failed.

Thanks Pikachu, I did look into admin guide, but they all mentioned about excluding "Index DB", I don't have such component in my dropdown list of the SharePoint Resources. Obviously because my index server is not the same as this frontend server.

What I was trying to exclude is this component:

Microsoft SharePoint Resources:\WSS_Administration\WebApplication\Content-DB*

Have you got it to work as excluded item?

Btw, I did check bpbkar log there was no trace of reading from the exclude list, am I looking at the correct log?
