Hello all,

Our netbackup server is windows 2003 64x with Netbackup 7 installed,

i also started upgrading our clients, one of the clients i upgraded to 7 is now failing as you can see here:

10/5/2010 3:35:22 PM - begin writing

10/5/2010 4:00:32 PM - Error bpbrm(pid=8064) from client RDSRV: ERR - failure reading file: D:\FileStorage\728235\90205\2010\10\04\ct_log_2010_10_03.zip (WIN32 2: The system cannot find the file specified. )

10/5/2010 4:00:35 PM - Error bpbrm(pid=8064) from client RDSRV: ERR - Snapshot Error while reading file: GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy28\FileStorage\728235\90205\2010\10\04\ct_log_2010_10_03.zip

10/5/2010 4:00:35 PM - Critical bpbrm(pid=8064) from client RDSRV: FTL - Backup operation aborted!

10/5/2010 4:00:38 PM - end writing; write time: 00:25:16

snapshot error encountered(156)

i should state that i'm not getting this error only on that zip file, but on various other files as well.

the client is also 2003 64x.

things i've tried so far that didn't help:
Adding the problematic client to:

Host Properties -> Master Servers -> Client Attributes -> Enable Windows Open File Backups for this client

and marking that this is windows 2003 inviorment so VSS should be used. = fail.

tried changing the snapshot error control to "disable snapshot and continue. = fail.

also removed the V from "Enable windows open file backups for this client"= fail.

another thing i tried is i connected to the problematic server and setting the limit of the shadow copies to "No Limit"

weird thing is that after i logged off the problematic server and logged back on, the setting went back to 1000 MB limit, which i found weird.

Anyway, i'd appreciate your help!

thank you.

try this

Within the NetBackup Administration Console, expand Host Properties in the left pane
Within Host Properties, click Clients and then double-click the name of the client in the right pane
Expand the Windows Client section and click on VSP to display cache settings

Make sure the Customize the cache sizes check box is not selected.

Are there any other backups running simultaneously on this client? Can you find any event happend at this time?

Have you already applied latest VSS fix on the client?

Have you already enabled debug logging? I recoomend you to enable logging and call symantec.
