Snapshot policy type on file server creates a performance issue

Is it normal to experience a huge performance hit on our file server when running a snapshot backup.

The file server contains roaming profiles so logon are very slow at night when the snapshop is running.

We're running netbackup client 7.1 on a windows server 2008 file server.  The drives are vmware RDM luns.

Since they have RDMs attached, I can safely assume you have the NBU client installed on the VM. If you make the LUNs also available to the media server, you could use FBU-WIN+off-hosting.

That means a raw device snapshot off-hosted to the media server.
