Hi,
they said that this error got resolved with the new Maintenance Release 7.5.0.5 :

as mentioned in this article.
I've had this issue since the first backup of this cluster node, and is still present after the maintenace release.
Did anyone experience a similar issue?

Please check the status of the writers on all servers in the DAG / Cluster (CCR )
From a command line :
vssadmin list writers
All writers must be stabled. If any have an error or waiting for completion, a quick fix would be to restart the server , however for a root cause to keep this from happening again, Microsoft will need to be contacted.
You can also check the application event viewer for VSS / ESE errors.

Thank you for the fast reply.
The writers are all fine on both nodes.
I will try to communicate this issue with microsoft, I was really hoping that the maintenance release would solve this issue.

Can you upload bpfis from the nodes of the cluster and do you see any errors in the application event viewer ?
Also is the cluster a DAG ? If not, what type of cluster is this ?

I don't have any. I've set up the logging now.
It's not a DAG, it's an active-passive HA cluster, Win 2008 R2.

If http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH60632 does not resolve your issue, cna you fail over and reboot the box to see if you still have an issue ?

hi,
this technote is not applicable to my situation.
if i do the failover and let the backup run, it is probably going to work. but as a passive cluster node it is reporting the above mentioned error.
both servers were rebooted couple of times before, but that didn't help.

What Version of NBU is the MAster server , Media server and client you are trying to backup , running at ?

You may need to open a ticket with support and reference this tech note and etrack 3013181 so they can raise a ticket to engineering. Be sure to include all logs and a NBSU for escalation.
Please update the forum with the results as you are the first customer I have seen this on 7.5.0.5.
