NetBackup VMware policy restore error (2820)

could you confirm if the Destination client has the netbackup installed and configured and have good communication from the media server that is being used for this restore?

Hi RamNagalla,
No, the destination and the source are the same (the policy is vmware) and the destination do not have nbu client installed.
BTW, I tried with another destination as "nbmaster" (AIX) and a server window with nbu client installed and the error code was the same.
Thank for your support !!
Ale

Hello,
If you want to restore FILES to a VM that was backed up using VMware Policy Type, you need to install the NetBackup Client software on that VM.

You are trying to do a cross-platform restore to your master (AIX) from a client backup (Linux) and that is not supported.

For the actual restore that you wanted to do in the first place, you must have client software installed on the destination client. VADP backups will work without a client, but require a client in case of file restores.

I just tried restoring from a VADP backup to a physical Solaris server with client installed - did not work and gave status 2820. Restore to a physical RHEL server worked. Maybe its just my configuration, I dont want to get into a screaming match.

Thanks all,
I have already create a case in Veritas in order to help with this issue.
