Hello , i was looking around if there any way to take online - hot backup for Sybase DBs using NetBackup 7.6.1.1 as it was stated by the admins that they cannot have online backups so they have a backup window to backup the data to a local disk then Veritas will take the data from the local drives , cannot Veritas take the backups online directly !?

Hello,
there are two different database systems from Sybase.
If admins mean Sybase SQL Anywhere, they are right. If they mean Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (Sybase ASE), they are wrong. Refer to Database Agnet compatibility lists at : http://www.veritas.com/docs/000033647

Once you have verified compatibility and you have confirmed that you have NBU Application and DB license, you can download the NetBackup for Sybase Administrator's Guide .
Share the manual with your dba's to get hot, online backups working.

Hello,
do you have some feedback? Which database it is and if backups succeeded?
