Symantec Backup tool using poor data link

Hi

I work in a company with 30 subsidiary offices, and  these offices are connected with our headquarter

using data links ( 700kb - 1MB) .

I'm looking for a backup tool to backup data from subsidiary servers, storing data in our headquarter,

using our data links.

Is there any Symantec tool able to make this task ?

Thanks

There are only two products on the market that can do this.  Symantec PureDisk (Comes in appliance form, DVD ISO, or as a pre-made VM)  Or EMC's Avamar.

What makes these products unique is that their client side dedupe was created for remote office backup, and slow links with poor connectivity.

BackupExec and NetBackup also can do client side dedupe, but cannot take poor links too well.  Let alone the way the hashing algorithm works on these, is that the clients must reach over the WAN each time gather and send the HASH database back to the server to compare.  Where as, PureDisk and Avamar keep a cached copy locally, saving you some time.

Hi,

NetBackup client-side dedupe as since been OK'd for use in remote office setups with low-bandwidth links.

Ok'd and real-world are often at odds with each other.

If you know how NBU does it's client-side dedupe vs PureDisk clients, you'll understand that one is vastly superior to the other, and the lesser product uses a band-aid fix of check-point restarts to eventually get it done.

That said, true and reliable clcient-side dedupe, PureDisk and EMC's Avamar are about the most reliable products out there for remote office stuff.  NetBackup's is not quite there yet.
