System State: are there granularity options available?

Hi All,

While running "ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES " with "incr" option, I'm seeing no difference in the backup size. I suspect that including the System State is causing the backup to include the entire WinSxS folder every time.

Is there any option to exclude these files (if nothing has changed) in 7.5 or later NBU versions?

System state will be backed up as full always, there is no way around it.

The NetBackup 7.7.2 Release Notes:

http://www.veritas.com/docs/000099946

...on page 22 says:

Support for system state incremental backups that use Granular Recovery Technology (GRT)

NetBackup 7.7.2 now supports system state incremental backups that use Granular Recovery Technology (GRT). With NetBackup 7.7.1, the system state incremental GRT backups ran as full backups. For more information, refer to “Restoring the System State” in the NetBackup Administrator’s Guide, Volume I.”

I stand corrected. I was not aware of that, but am now!

Smiley Happy

I only read about it the other day.

So, the answer is to upgrade. Besides, support for all 7.x versions up to 7.6.x is fast running out.....
