Taking NDMP backup to DD

nbu123
Level 5

Hello All,

Master & Media :- LINUX 7.5.0.5

Currently we are taking NDMP backup of NetApp filer (Local NDMP) through NDMP Storage unit onto the Tapes.

Our tape drives are zoned to NetApp filer.

We are now looking to take the NDMP backups to Data Domain. Currently we are using BOOST to take the backup of other servers in our envirnoment.

Please let us know what all things we need to do at our end to make the NDMP backups write to Data Domain.

Will that work if we change the storage unit in existing NDMP policy to the storage unit for Data Domain or we need to do some additional configuration.

Thanks in Advance.

Just add NDMP credencials to media server(s) configured in DD STU's, then change STU in NDMP policy.

Remember to tests and verify credentials on media server(s).

Thanks for your response Marianne.

We are using DD over IP so if i am correct we will use ddboost to write to DD from Netbackup media server over IP.

I would like to confirm if it will follow the same with the NDMP Host. Data from Filer will flow using IP connectivity to media server?

Correct. Data from Filer will flow using IP connectivity to media server.
