Try this  ,

  • first stop all backup & restore activity.

  • Then run command : nbrbutil -resetAll

You may have tape drive allocation that has not been released.

Solaris 8 & 9 are not supported a media servers in NetBackup 7.x

You might want to simply try resetting the medai server (versus resetAll).

Try:

 nbrbutil -resetMediaServer [servername]

Also check for stale drive files under /usr/openv/netbackup/db/media/drives (these will cause drives not to be reallocated.

A file is stale when the bptm process associated with it is no longer active.  You can cat the file to find the pid.

Or shutdown NetBackup and remove any 'leftover' files.

When you start any backups, look into the bptm logs. Since Master server in Solaris 10, tail the recent bptm log and observe for any discrepencies.

#tail -f log.xxxxx.

Also try to release the reservations on the drive.

#vmoprcmd -crawlreleasebyname <drivename>

Also, can you confirm whether backups were happening before?

if so,after what point this issue started? any upgradaton or Patching has been done?

Where exactly do you see 'drive busy'? Please show us what you see. (Screenshot, please.) Also show us output of this command on the master server: /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmoprcmd
