Hi, i am continuing the discussion:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/copy-old-tape-new-tape

I tried to run the command:

./bpduplicate -id TF0179

and i receive the followings in the GUI:

1: (144) invalid command usage

02/08/2012 13:34:46 - begin Duplicate
02/08/2012 13:34:46 - end Duplicate; elapsed time 0:00:00
invalid command usage (144)

Or in the Commandline:

# ./bpduplicate -id TF0179
Duplicate started Wed Feb  8 13:34:46 2012
Activity monitor job id = 136075

1 = 1st new copy will be primary
            2 = 2nd new copy will be primary ...
n = nth new copy will be primary

How shall i proceed? The setting in the master server Properties under Global Attributes for Maximum backup colies is 2. The backups are running directly to tape (to a VTL) - Netbackup 6.5

Many thanks!

Have you tried with more parameters?

e.g.

bpduplicate -id TF0179 -dstunit <destination storage unit label> -dp <destination pool name>

You should add "-s" and "-e" options. Without time range, NetBackup assume that you ask NetBackup to duplicate data written today or within last 24 hours only.

You mean then:

./bpduplicate -id TF0179 -s -e     ?

thnx

Please have a look at the Commands Manual as well as the 'usage' output in your opening post.

It also helps if you look at the parameters that you enter when doing duplication through the GUI (Catalog section). The same parameters need to be specified when you use cmd.

"-s" and "-e" require date and time to specify date range(-s -> start, -e -> end).
Check usage you posted.

 [-s mm/dd/yyyy HH:MM:SS] [-e mm/dd/yyyy HH:MM:SS]

If you want to cover all data in the tape, use "-s 01/01/1970 00:00:00"(in GMT, please modify it depending on your time zone).
