We are using NBU 6.5.2A in our environment. We have 2 Net Apps Boxes to backup on weekly basis.

There is one Net Apps box  often got this kinda errors with some of the files can't be backup : "The Specified Network Name is no longer available ", however the second Net Apps box able to complete successfully. I've escalate it to our network team (which they confirmed there was no packet loss between master server & net app boxes) & even replaced the NIC on the master server. Problem persist.

We are using UNC map & network filesys backup for this 2 policies.

Master server is running on Win2K3 S.P. 1

Any reply will be appreciated.

Thanks

Is your server can able to reach the UNC Path or Maped files?

Is your UNC Path or Mapped path available (reachable) in time when the Backup is running ??

Yes. I am pretty sure the master server has no problem to access the UNC path during backup.

As i have mentioned earlier some of the files can't be backup : "The Specified Network Name is no longer available . The whole backup was able to complete, its just around 50 files not able to backup with that error.

The weird thing is , both Net App Boxes & the master server was connected to the same  GB switch, i can't figure it out why that problem only happen at one particular NAS Storage Backup.

Rgds

U r saying that master Server can able reach the UNC Path and backup files, missings files should be in problem- means high loaded, high usage, etc...

If some files are missing then that should be problem with client side !

We We have actually logged a case with Net Apps Vendor, according to their findings. there is no issue on the Storage Side.

Is is due to NBU cant support 3 policy connecting  to the same NAS storage for backup within the same timeframe?
