The first vm backup ran both full and diff

Hi,

I have created a new policy for vmware. Onyl differential was chosen for yesterday. After taking the first backup in full,  then ran differential backup. Since there is no full backup before, it is normal to take the first backup in full. But is it normal to start differential immediately when full backup is finished?

Hey

All depends how you did configure this policy... Can you share its details....  :>

Schedule;

Diff: Selected every day. Saturdays were excluded.
Full: Saturdays are selected.
Accelerator:Enabled
All other options are default.

Not enough information.

What about your scheduling "run windows" ?

Were you using SLPs ?

@probck , If I understood you correctly, did you manually start differential backup right after the full backup completed? or it was automatically started? Restarting Diff backup right after full backup will cause no harm. However, Netbackup have minimum changes to backup since full had just completed.

Now, if differential had automatically started right after full was done, this simply means your Diff backup schedule was right in the midst of it's backup window. Provide us bppllist info as @Marianne  requested above to validate this. Thanks

as mentionned before, please put the output of bppllist yourpolicy -U and also verify the type of execution on your job details (automatic or manual).

Well ,

This completely depends on how the policy is configured.

Can you list output of bppllist <policy name> -U ?
