@mrauf

You say that you are restoring to the same location, but the client name is different?

Backup was taken on client name pbad-dc1.
You are trying to restore to client name pbaddc1 ?

Why is that?

pbad-dc1 != pbaddc1

@Marianne

Thanks for response,

our source client is dc1 and destination is dc1 and policy type is MS-windows, and backup taking from master server, while try to restore getting the error code MS-Windows policy restore error (2808).

Hi

Just make sure you select the correct entry as "destination server" in Backup Archive and Restore GUI.

Since this is a AD server .. your selection should be

Source Server = pbad-dc1

Destination Server = pbad-dc1

Hope it helps.

@pats_729

Hello Pats,

i am selecting the correct "Destination Server" in Backup Archive & Restore GUI.

but i am not sure why it's showing host name different i tried multiple times but failed to restore the backup.

Actually my domain server is on Windows 2003 32bits and NBU Version is 7.6.

our Master server is on Windows 2008 R2 64 bits & NBU Version is 7.6.1.1

if the Master server and Client server NBU Version are in different version due that may be restores getting failed.

Please find the attachment of Backup Archive & Restore GUI details.

@mrauf

Now it’s showing correct host name for destination server. But the way it’s failing it looks a different issue.
It seems it’s a GRT enabled restore. Then have you verified following prerequisites yet ?

1. Client for NFS service should be configured and running On Media server and Client.
2. Following NetBackup services should be running with domain admin credentials on Client.
a. NetBackup client service
b. NetBackup Legacy Client Service
3. Domain account used in above prerequisites should be allowed following permission on local systems policy
a. Log on as service
b. Replace process level token

After verifying this attempt a restore.

I agree with @pats_729

Thake a step back and double-check if all requirements are in place.

I suggest that you have a look at this Blueprint article:

https://vox.veritas.com/t5/Articles/Netbackup-7-6-Blueprints-Active-Directory/ta-p/808669

Please download the pdf at the bottom of the article.
The pdf doc covers everything needed for successful backup and restore.

Once you have verified that all pre-reqs are in place and policy config is correct, have a look at the restore examples and the logs that are needed to troubleshoot restore issues.
NBU Admin Guide I also explains restore steps.
I prefer logging level 3 on server(s) and client, as the default logging level 0 is not always sufficient for troubleshooting.
(Only enable level 5 logging if you plan to log a call with Veritas Support).
