Unable to allocate media

Hi All,

I created a decomm volume pool, and created new SLP with decomm pool for decommsion servers. Backup completed successfully in disk and duplicate copy is failing with error code 96 - unable to allocate media. I thought that new volume pool will pick the tapes from scratch pool. But It did not happen like that. So I have moved 2 scratch pool tapes to decomm pool and checked the duplicate status, still it is failing with same error. I have enough tapes in scrtach and decomm pool. Please advise.

Can you confirm that the tapes are in the robot that matches the Storage Unit? And that the densities match?

Hello,

Kindly make sure that Volume Pool, Storage Unit belongs to same tape library.

Also make sure the density fo tape drives and tapes are same. e.g hcart, hcart2 etc.

Robot is using hcart but the duplication job is looking for LCM_nb5220-hcart2-robot-tld-0 . Below is the error.  I have updated it in SLP to nb5220-hcart-robot-tld-0 ,but still it is in queued with below error.

Are you and rova_nbu working together?

Do you have hcart and hcart2 tape drives? And different STUs for hcart and hcart2 densities?
Important to verify that densities match - media, tape drives and STU.

Please bear in mind that the duplication job us running against the SLP version that existed at the time. To change the STU for a previous version, you will need to list SLP versions from cmd, and then modify that particular version. (Google SLP versions for command usage).
