Unable to backup System State or Shadow Copy

Hi all,

Some of clients I recently migrated from 4.5 to 7.5 are falling with status code error 13 or 24.

I allready tried this : https://vox.veritas.com/t5/NetBackup/ERR-Unable-to-backup-System-State-or-Shadow-Copy/m-p/609552#M15... but didn't help.

In Host Properties > Master > Client Attributes > Windows Open File Backup, I checked Enable (...) + Use Microsoft Volume (...) + Individual drive snapshot + Disable snapshot and continue

What else can I try ?

Unfortunately Windows 2003 is no longer supported by Microsoft or by Veritas.
NBU 7.5 has also reached EOSL.

Windows 2003 was known for VSS issues (needed for SCC and/or System State backups).
Microsoft used to have hotfixes for VSS.

So, your first task should be to try and locate these MS hotfixes.

I just patched with KB940349 and KB2748349. Waiting for a try.

Being Windows 2003 has the clients been rebooted after the Netbackup client upgrade(/reinstallation ?

Else has the blog below helped me with a lot of VSS issues also on Windows 2003 even if it is mainly for Windows 2008/Vista

Also make sure you implemented the recommended anti virus exclusions for netbackup.
