RHEL 6, NBU 7.7.1

Unable to login, status: 539

Verification of X.509 certificate failed when connecting to the bpjava user service on <master>.

Found this support page:

I tried this:

> bpnbaz -ProvisionCert <master>
Setting up security on target host: <master>
Failed to provision certificate
Unable to configure target host.

I could just try restarting NetBackup, but I have a lot of jobs running right now...

Thanks in advance.

My suggestion is to upgrade to latest NBU version.

There have been issues with Java and nbatd in early 7.7.x versions. Such as this one (on Windows master but the issue may very well be on Linux/Unix as well):
(Extract from LBN TN)

Fixed in 7.7.3: (ET 3867824) Downloadable Fix: A hotfix is available for NetBackup 7.7.2 which resolves an issue where the Java GUI on a Windows server fails to connect and some NetBackup services fail to start.

So thanks to a coworker...

nbatd wasn't running...

so I just started it from the command line...

> at now
at> /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbatd
at> <EOT>
job 837 at 2016-10-10 07:48

Not convinced this was the "prettiest" way to get it running... but it worked...

Why did it stop in the first place?!?

Why did it stop in the first place?!?

The only time I've seen this error was after new installs or upgrades.

I have seen NBU services turn off when disk space becomes full, but for your issue you should look into nbat and OS logs.

reg query "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\nbatd" /s > nbatd_service_reg.txt

nbatd unified logs

Location of log files:
UNIX:   /usr/openv/logs/nbatd
Windows:   %INSTALL_PATH \NetBackup\logs\nbatd (NetBackup7.6)
                 %INSTALL_PATH \NetBackup\sec\at\bin\nbatd (NetBackup7.5.x)

How to change debug level:
UNIX:   vxlogcfg -a -p 51216 -o 18 -s DebugLevel=<0-6>
Windows:   vxlogcfg -a -p 51216 -o 18 -s DebugLevel=<0-6>

We have updated to 7.7.3 in preparation for migrating to new appliances (FINALLY!) and I have not seen the issue since. Thanks to all.
