Seems that the 7.6 installer finds some NetBackup 6.5 libraries which incompatible with the 7.6 ones

A workaround could copy the bp.conf and config files somewhere else, then uninstall the Netbackup 7.1 client, install 7.6 client and copy the bp.conf and config files back.

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

Are you trying to upgrade *directly* to 7.6.0.2?

What about base install 7.6[.0.1]?

Why not use update_clients with -ForceInstall option?

It will update client(s) with latest binaries from software on the master.

Herewith my own experience:

update_clients failure

Hi Andy ,

Yes we are performing directly to 7.6.0.2 , and we are able to perform on other UNIX clients successfully .

Uninstall netbackup-6.5.3.1 rpm first and try again. As far as I know, there are no such package that is officially released. Any chance, have you installed in-house repackaged rpm?

About update_clients failure: Check all of the following:

Connectivity from master to client using bptestbpcd.

Check for sufficient space in /tmp. A workaround is changing TMPDIR variable.
See
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH143819

Double-check if this may be NBU 6.5 installed on 32-bit OS as indicated by this message in the installation log:

... conflicts with file from package netbackup-6.5.3.1-1.el5.i386

See: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH141136
