Upgrade of Ops Center Analytics from 7.5.0.6 to v7.5.0.7

Hi All,

I am looking to get my Ops Center Analytics upgraded to v7.5.0.7. Current version is 7.5.0.6.

It is installed on one of server on Solaris (Sparc) host.

I am bit confused about Server software and Agent Sodtware.

We are currently Monitoring 3 master server from this Ops Center. out of 3 servers 2 servers are on 7.5.0.5 and remaing one is on v7.5.0.7(I know that first we need to update ops center and then master server,  but we had first upgraded our one of the master to v7.5.0.7)

It would be great if you can let me know how we can proceed further and upgrade ops center from v7.5.0.6 to v7.5.0.

You would not update your agent unless you were already using an agent to collect licensing. The agent would not have neccesairly been on the master server itself. This is most often installed on the OPSC server, but requires NetBackup installed (just the client) for functionality as well as requires NB be the same version as the master servers, which is why in mixed environments many chose to install the agent on the master itself.

For job collection, NetBackup itself has an integrated agent that is a part of NB itself.

You can skip installing the agent if you are not doing licensing collection.

So for just the sever (copied from the technote)

1) Download the OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris.tar.gz file into the /tmp directory.

2) Extract the OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris.tar.gz file.

That creates the following directory which contains the installation scripts:

OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris

3) Install OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris Release Update binaries.

ex.

/tmp/OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris/ServerPatch/installOpsCenterServerPatch

That should be all.

Here is what you want for your Opscenter Server.
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH209052

You can see from this matrix, http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO87945 , the agent is only used for liscensing collection these days.

Thanks for the links mnolan.

It still have few doubts. Can you please clear them.

In our envirnoment we have 4 master servers. All of them are on LINUX host.

Our Ops Center is installed on Solaris Sun Sparc Host.

1) I will follow the below steps and install the ops center 7.5.0.7 by following below steps:-

========================

a)Download the OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris.tar.gz file into the /tmp directory.

b)Extract the OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris.tar.gz file.

That creates the following directory which contains the installation scripts:

OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris

To install this Release Update as root on the server:

a) Install OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris Release Update binaries.

- cd /tmp/OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris/ServerPatch

- Run the installOpsCenterServerPatch script, for example:

OpsCtr_Server_7.5.0.7_solaris/ServerPatch/installOpsCenterServerPatch

b) Install OpsCtr_Agent_7.5.0.7_<platform> Release Update binaries.

- cd /tmp/OpsCtr_Agent_7.5.0.7_<platform>/AgentPatch

- Run the installOpsCenterAgentPatch script, for example:

OpsCtr_Agent_7.5.0.7_solaris/AgentPatch/installOpsCenterAgentPatch

=====================================================================

I am confused that once my ops center is upgraded to 7.5.0.7. Do i need to install any kind of agent on my Master Server also?
