Hello,
I have several Master server, all have a dedicated mediaserver. The OS is Windows 2008R2 and Netbackup is version 7.6.0.4. Now I am planning the an upgrade to NBU 7.7.2.
The company where I curently work has a lot of legacy servers, I see a lot of client versions 6.5. and lower. Will this keep working? What would be the lowest version? I tried to find this on the Veritas website, but I couldn't find it.
Regards,
Rob

You will need to check Compatibility Guides - Including Statement of Support in Virtual environment.
Master Compatibility List: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000033647
Statement of Support for NetBackup 7.x in a Virtual Environment: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000006177
You will probably need to upgrade VMware.
The Compatibility Guides do not list hardware version, only vSphere version.
Seems only vSphere 5.1 and later is supported with NBU 7.7.x.

Thanks Marianne, do you maybe know what would happen with VM hardware version 4? Would that work?

Thanks for the answer.
The problem with the VMware hardware version is that some of the VMware images have an older OS like Windows 2000 or NT, those cannot be upgraded to a higher hardwarelevel. One time when I did that they didn't startup properly and I needed to restore them.
Sometimes it is hard to get ride of legacy systems.
