Using Multiple master servers

We want to refresh our Netbackup server which is a Windows 2008 server with a Linux server. The Sybase database does not migrate cleanly from a Windows to Linux. We are considering creating a new master server on the Linux server and making it a master of masters. It will also serve as a media server. All subsequent backups would go to the new master. Legacy restores would be handled by the old one. Data would eventually expire on the old. My question is, could both masters share a library, or would they need to be seperate libraries ? would we have to partition the library ?

No. 2 masters cannot share a library as each master has its own Emm/device database.
You will have to partition the robot and keep devices and media separate.

*** EDIT ***

A Symantec Consulting Partner can migrate Windows catalogs to Linux.

See:
How to migrate the NetBackup catalog information from one platform to another (UNIX to Windows or vice versa), rename a Master Server, cluster an existing Master Server, or merge multiple NetBackup domains.

Thank you for your response.  I will partition the library
