Wondered if somebody had some best practice regarding number of vADP streams per datastore
All I have been able to find in Symantec documents is that you use more than one stream to saturate the backup path, which in our case is 2x 4 Gbps SAN connections to the media
Netbackup 7.5.0.5
VMWARE vsphere 5.1.0 update 1 on ESX hosts and vsphere 5.1.0 on VI Center

If you use the query to select the clients in your VMware policies then the Master Server Host Properties - Resource Limit section can be used where you can set a limit of x per Datastore or x per VMXDatastore etc
That way you do not need so many policies but still restrict the usage as required
Hope this helps

From what i have heard the best is actually one at a time - powers the snapshots through quickly
In general my customers do not exceed 6 but advice is to keep it as low as possible
Sure there is a tech note somewhere - i will see if i can dig it out...

Have a look at very useful links in following thread:
My suggestion is start with 1 and than check and maybe set higher.
Hope it helps.

See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH143191
...... NetBackup recommends creating one backup policy for each datastore and setting the "Limit jobs per policy" setting to a number no higher than four.
Also in NetBackup for VMware best practices

Creating one policy per datastore is killing the VIP idea for us as we are running with datastore clusters

hi,
for larger environment it is 1 or 2 ( not more than 2) and if it is mid or small enviornment it can be upto 4
see the below vidoes understand the other best practicies also along with the number of jobs for data stoes.

as Mark soulition said.... if you are using the query builder to discover the VMs it would be easy to contol the resources.. if not you need to end of with mulitple policies and also controls in netbackup policy strems.. etc.
