Fuctionality

--> Symantec NetBackup PureDisk offers storage and bandwidth-optimized data protection for data center, remote office, and virtual environments.

--> It reduces the size of backups with a deduplication engine that can be deployed for storage reduction, using integration with NetBackup, or for bandwidth reduction using PureDisk clients.

--> An open architecture allows customers to easily deploy and scale NetBackup PureDisk for data centers, remote offices, and disaster recovery sites.


--> Veritas NetBackup PureDisk offers storage and bandwidth-optimized data protection for data center, remote office, and virtual environments.

--> It can reduce the size of backups using a deduplication engine that can be deployed for storage reduction, using integration with NetBackup, or for bandwidth reduction using PureDisk clients. 

--> An open hardware architecture allows customers to easily deploy and scale NetBackup PureDisk using familiar server and storage technology. 

--> Automated failover, optimized replication, and integrated encryption provide customers with the critical features necessary to meet a wide range of business requirements.


Platforms

--> NetBackup PureDisk is a stand-alone product that does not require an installation of NetBackup.
 
--> The server & storage environment runs on its own Linux-based operating system (PDOS) based on Suse Enterprise Linux 10 and now requires a 64-bit server platform.

 
--> Client-side deduplication (at the source) requires a NetBackup PureDisk client be installed on the physical or virtual server.


-->  Mac OS x 10.3 & 10.4

-->  Windows Servers

-->  Windows XP

-->   Red Hat Enterprise Linux

-->   SUSE Linux Desktop

-->    SUSE Linux Enterprise

-->   Novell Linux Open Enterprise Server

System Requirements

--> Processor:  Intel EM64T or AMD64 Opteron 2.8 GHz or better processor

-->   Memory Required:  4GB of error-correcting code (ECC) random-access memory (RAM)

--> Disk Space: 150 MB hard disk space required after Microsoft Windows is installed (typical installation)

 
Other Hardware

--> Enterprise-class GB Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC), DVD-ROM drive

--> Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Anybody out there that has upgraded to/installed version 6.6 yet? Your experience with this version?
We need to start planning a new installion and need to know how stable 6.6 is.

If you're installing 6.6, probably also want to install 6.6.0.1 :)

Hotfix NB_PDE_6.6.0.1.tar provides critical fixes to Symantec Veritas NetBackup (tm) PureDisk 6.6
