From long history, we have all different Netbackup license keys from 6.5 to 7.7. Some of them even discontiued. Is there any way VERITAS/Symantec can help to upgrade all Netbackup to the same version and new names?

thank you !

I do not see a request for new hostname - just updated license keys and their new names. You can contact Veritas Customer Care, but maybe best to work with your local reseller to first perform an audit of your environment to see which features and options are really in use.

You would need to involve a certified Symantec consultant to have someone assist with server renaming (specifically Master server name).

Read this Technote on migration/renames and merging of environments: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000026956

Symantec/Veritas Technical support do not typically get involved in upgrading customers NetBackup systems (unless there are technical issues with that process).

If you have an account manager you may wish to get them involved.

Also Check out the following technotes to make sure your existing OS and Hardware is compatible before upgrading.

7.7 OS Compatibility Guide: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000025229

7.7 Hardware Compatibility Guide: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000025228

Please clarify - do you have multiple master servers at older versions that you want to transfer their catalog to one new master server?

Is that where the new hostname concept comes in?

Or do you want to upgrade several netbackup masters and update their name at the same time?

NetBackup 9.1.0.1 on Solaris 11, writing to Data Domain 9800 7.7.4.0
duplicating via SLP to LTO5 & LTO8 in SL8500 via ACSLS

Guys, please read the opening post again. There is no requirement for hostname change.
