However I am able to recover a single file from following environment.

Policy type: Hyper V
hyper V : win 2012 r2
Nbu : 7.6.0.2
ENable File Level recovery : yes
offline backups for non VSS VMs: yes

kindly suggest if I am missing something,  because as per symantec notes it should not work..

That limitation is for NBU 7.5.0.6* and 7.5.0.7*.

See June 10 version of
Statement of Support for NetBackup 7.x in a Virtual Environment:    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127089

Table 22:

7.6.0.2* and later

Adds support for Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 R2. Also adds support for VHDX files.
NetBackup limitations on Hyper-V Server 2012 and Hyper-V Server 2012 R2:
■ Block-level incremental backup is not supported.
■ File-level recovery from a Hyper-V backup is not supported in any of the following cases:
■ The files inside a VM reside in a Resilient File System (ReFS) volume.
■ The files inside a VM reside in an NTFS deduplicated volume.
■ The files are in a VM (any guest OS) that resides on a Hyper-V 2012 R2 server with
the Windows Server 2012 R2 update of April 2014.
For more information on the update, see the following Microsoft article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355
Apart from the above restrictions, file-level recovery is supported when the files inside the
VM reside in an NTFS volume and the VM is composed of VHD or VHDX files.

hi,

where did you get "File level recovery is not possible with option "ENABLE FILE LEVEL RECOVERY"."

From NBU Hyper-V admin guide(http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=DOC6460), I see the following statement.

If the Enable file recovery from VM backup option was enabled, you can restore the files and folders that existed on that virtual machine at the time of the backup.

If the Enable file recovery from VM backup option was not enabled, you can restore the full virtual machine only.

This individual file recovery feature is similar to VMware individual file reovery, as well as enable "Enable file recovery from VM backup" in VMwarre poliy

Thanks
