VLS and remote data DR

Hi

I am not sure if this is possible but it would be nice.  Anybody attempted this?

NBU -> HP VLS9000 (local) -> deduplicated and replicated to another (LBR) ---> VLS  (remote)

Both the local and remote VLSs are managed by the same master and each VLS has its won media server.

If you have a local tape replicated to the remote VLS is there any way the remote media server can access that replica?
You can copy the remote replica to a real tape at the remote site but yopu shouldn't have to do that if the same master server has visibility to the samwe media server.
The media manger might get a little confused if by chance it sees identical tapes attached to the same media server.  You would have to disable the local source media.

The only time you would need this is the local media source was dead.

I don't know how it looks like on VLS9000 (OEM of Sepaton) .. But it's possible on different hardware (CentricStor).
If you have 2 VTLs working with mirror (replication) probably 2 boxes are parts of  a VTL cluster. NB see only one VTL (robot, ACSLS) .. If site A goes down VTL server starts at site B. NB can access robot in site B. Access to robot is provided only from one site, in other words there is no ACSLS server working in site A and site B at the same time. If you have 2 boxes with mirrored storage you can access a tape in 2 sites but no at the same time. You have only one robot so Nb will not let you put one tape to two tape drives.
