Hi All,

 

Need briefing on concept  of VMware with NBU.Few things which i am unsure about.

1)What is the role of sharepoint while configuring VMware for NBU.

2)Basic Architectural components required for configuring VMware with NBU.

I am a beginner in VMware,so please share the basic understanding which is required.

Basic understanding of NBU for VMware is best explained in  NetBackup 7.5.0.x for VMware Administrator's Guide  http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5605

The intro section of the manual explains how NBU for VMware works, the requirements, and overview of configuration steps.
 
VMware with sharepoint start here (in same manual):
About the virtual machine backups that include database data 
 
Then go to this section in the manual:
Table 5-6 Application Protection options
 
as well as NetBackup for Microsoft SharePoint Server Administrator's Guide    

See Chapter 7: Protecting SharePoint Server data with VMware backups

 

Please take your time and read through these manuals...

Do each step.  Trust me it isn't easy but it can be done.  Just got mine to work again.
