More info please...

Is this a VMware backup where backup is taken via a backup host?
If VMware backup - tell us more about the backup host: OS, NBU version & patch, ESX/vCenter version, details of particular VM.
Is backup host the media server as well?

Do you have logging enabled on the backup host?
We will need bpbkar log as a start. Logging level of 3 should be fine.

Hi Marianne,

Yes this is a WMware backup taken via a backup host.

The backup host and the client VM is running on Wndows Server 2K8 R2.

We are currently using NetBackup 7.5.0.6 and ESX 5.5.

I would also look in the bpbrm log on the media server, as this seems to where the error is registered first

Could be a timeout as there over the default 5 minutes between the begin writing message and the errror message

By the way is ESX 5.5 the same as vmware 5.5 ? ask as the vsphere/vmware 5.5 is first supported from 7.6.0.2

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

can you tell me how can i increase the time out for the policy?

yes it is the same.

It is a client setting Client Read Timeout, in this case on the backup host/media server and maybe master server.

But as this is an unsupported setup, it might fail anyway

Hello, you wrote: "We are currently using NetBackup 7.5.0.6 and ESX 5.5." ESX5.5 is not supported with 7.5.0.6. So first do an upgrade to 7.6.0.2 (or later). It is not worth to do troubleshooting for unsupported versions.
