My 2c:
I think that you should consider backing up the VMs locally at remote site, and then duplicate/replicate these backups to the DC.
This method will give you the ability to perform local restore as well as DR capabilities at the DC.
You may want to consider a NetBackup virtual Appliance at the remote site. You have a choice between :
ROBO - This is a master/media server that can size up to 16TB.
Data Center - Media server only that can size up to 250TB.
The advantage of ROBO is that this installation can function independently of the master at the DC.
WAN outage or network hiccups will not affect the backups at the remote site.
ROBO will need constant connection to DC master server.
If you perform dedupe backups at remote site and duplicate/replicate to the DC, you will have the benefit of optimized duplication. Because of global dedupe across all VM backups, even the first duplication across the WAN will be smaller.
From there on, only changed blocks will be sent across the WAN.
To answer your questions:
Is This policy will take VM snapshot?
Yes. VMware backups always start with VM snapshot.
Is it enough to restore the VM thoug host will be replaced?
Yes. VMware backup enables you to perform full VM restore as well as individual files.
if this will not work which kind of backup we should perform, any suggestions ?
See above.
