VMWare Intelligent Policy Query using Annotation as Filter

pdunnigan
Level 4

NetBackup 2.7.3 and VSphere 5.5. I'm using a NBU policy at the Cluster level on VMWare using VMWare Intelligent Policy Query and I need to filter out clients that do not need to be included (100+), I cannot use tags as they are supported in 6.0, I tried adding a phrase in the “Note” field of a few clients and add a line to my query to not include the clients with this phrase in the Annotation field, doing a test query, it excluded these clients. Is there any caveats that I should be aware of with this type of query?

Thanks

Pat

only thing that needs to be taken care is notes are not modified...

i would suggesst to use new annotation  instead of note, populate new annotation in Vcenter some thing like " NB_BACKUP" and add value NO if it does not require to be backup..

then in query select if  NB_BACKUP not equal to NO, select the VM for backups..

this will ensure that this annotation is only for Netbackup backups, and notes can be used for reguler notes with no dependency.
