I just need to vent with how disappointed I am.
The new VMware compatibility guide is out and there is STILL no ETA for File Recovery support on VMware backups with XFS.

This has been an issue on the "Ideas" page for three years now.
Red Hat 7's default FS is XFS. This is a major problem for us. Having to run a VM in Standard policy and VMware policy is just plain messy.

Seems 8.1.2 release was pushed out to late Aug.
...... sigh ....

Have you all read the evaluation scenarios spreadsheet for Beta5? It is indeed in there that XFS support is available for VM's in 8.1.2.

It is part for next NetBackup release 8.1.2, expected GA is in late August 2018.
Snippet from NetBackup 8.1.2 Beta4 Invitation pdf.
All of the functionality of this beta since NetBackup 8.1.1 was released is listed below. Items 1-6 are new to Beta3.
(1) (New) Problem: I want NetBackup to provide single file recovery capability for XFS file systems in VMware environments.
Solution: Backups of XFS file systems will now be mapped, allowing single file recovery.
