VMware backups are failing from two clients with 156 while other vm backups are working fine. Please find the detailed backup failure log below.
Any idea about the problem please. Thanks in advance.
Troubleshooting steps already performed without any luck.
1. Checked, No delta snapshot present on the vm which generally prevent new snapshot to create.
2. Uninstalled, rebooted client and reinstalled vmware tools (8.3.2).
3. Deleted the client from the policy and re-added.
4.Checked by changing VM Host Name/ Transfer Mode etc.

Looking at this error "09/02/2013 21:34:51 - Critical bpbrm (pid=7170) from client client011: FTL - VMware error received: File <unspecified filename> is larger than the maximum size supported by datastore '<unspecified datastore>", it would suggest you have a disk on a VM which is too large to create a snapshot on the datastore. Check for existing snapshots of the clients on the datastore, remove them and run the jobs again. You should be good to go. I just went through the same thing and I found this to be the issue.

Hi,
we ve snaphsots failing 156 when the vmware hardware version is under 7 or 8 and the option BLIB in the policy is enabled. You can do following. Unmark the option or make an upgrade of Vmware Hardware version. The easiest way is to check in a test policy without the option is enabled the backup will run fine even in hardware version 4 or so. Its just not supported the option under 7 and 8.
Best regards
