Create the bpfis log on the backup host. If that does not give any clues you can enable vxms logging.

It can happen if the the netbackup online_util directory is not excluded from the anti virus scan, at least on windows

Also have had to clean out the online_util sub directories by hand after problems with the snapshots

What happens i f you try to create a snapshot with queisce file system from vsphere on the failing VMs ?

Is there any events in the vsphere and system logs on the VMs ?

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

Check following technote:

Snapshot error encountered (status code 156)

it helps for trobleshooting.

That is usually the backup / media server.
