I'm testing a VMware policy with "SQL Server Recovery" enabled, but the job is failing with status error 198 (no active policies contain schedules of the requested type for this client).

I believe it's looking for an "Automatic Backup" schedule, but the VMware policy with "SQL Server Recovery" enabled does not show this as an option when I try to create a new schedule.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Incrementals are NOT supported.
Limitations of using a VMware policy to protect SQL Server
The following limitations exist when you configure a VMware policy to protect SQL Server:
VMware incremental backups of SQL Server are not supported with this version of NetBackup. However, the use of Accelerator may increase the speed of full backups.

It can also do this when the client type is not supported or something is wrong...
Can you confirm that you have installed the NBU client on the SQL Server and have installed the Symantec VSS Provider on it too?

I do have the nbu client installed on the SQL server. How/where can I check to see if the Symantec VSS Provider is installed as well ?

Hello,
You have to install it manually, its not installed with the client by default.

I've installed the Symantec VSS Provider, and rerun the job. The full job was successful, but now the incremental failed as follows.
