VNBU (UNIX) alternative library if one is down

Hi

I am looking at VNBU v6.6/7 on a UNIX server with two 16 slot autoloaders. Is there anyway to promote one autoloader as the primary and one as a secondary. Looking to automatically use 2nd autoloader if the primary is down.  Don't really want policy to use "any available drive".

Will also be using in-line copies once a month but that bit is fine

Any ideas?

TC

Create Storage Unit Group and review the failover criteria before making a selection (Sounds like you need Failover selection):

Extract from Admin Guide I:

The only difference between the selection criteria options is the order in which the storage units are selected.
A queue can form for a storage unit if the storage unit is unavailable.
The following are some reasons why a storage unit can be considered unavailable:
■ The storage unit is busy.
■ The storage unit is down.
■ The storage unit is out of media.
■ The storage unit has no available space.
■ The storage unit has reached the Maximum concurrent jobs setting.
See “Maximum concurrent jobs setting” on page 383.

Prioritized storage unit selection
The Prioritized option indicates that NetBackup choose the next available storage unit in the list. (Default.)
If a storage unit is unavailable, NetBackup examines the next storage unit until it finds one that is available.

Failover storage unit selection
The Failover option indicates that if a job must queue for a storage unit, the job will queue rather than try another storage unit in the group.

Round robin storage unit selection
The Round robin option indicates that NetBackup choose the least recently selected storage unit in the list as each new job is started.
If a storage unit is unavailable, NetBackup examines the next storage unit until it finds one that is available.

Media server load balancing storage unit selection
The Mediaserverloadbalancing option indicates that NetBackup select a storage unit based on a capacity-managed approach. In this way, NetBackup avoids sending jobs to busy media servers.
If a storage unit is unavailable, NetBackup examines the next storage unit until it finds one that is available.

With failover selection, jobs with only go to STU2 if STU1 is down.
