Enterprise Disk
In addition to providing high-performance disk backup for VTLs and OST enabled appliances, Enterprise Disk enable other advanced features such as Storage Lifecycle Policies, Media Server Load Balancing, and Intelligent Disk Capacity Management. You should know that not all of these features are applicable to every type of disk media.
Licensing is based on the amount of front-end data to be protected on source systems (front-end terabyte). A front-end terabyte is defined as the aggregate amount of data on the client machines measured as the current largest aggregate full.

NetBackup Library Based Tape Drive
NetBackup support for physical tape drives controlled by a robotic library is licensed per physical tape drive; regardless of the manufacturer, type of device, or number of servers attached to the library. There is no charge for stand-alone, nonrobotic tape drives directly attached to a NetBackup Master/Media Server or NetBackup Server. This is not applicable to licensing virtual tape libraries (VTLs). Please see the Enterprise Disk Option for licensing of virtual tape libraries (VTLs).
