we have the falconstor ipstor vtl right now with 5.0 mp5. it was either falconstor or diligent. setup was pretty simple in netbackup. we just had to figure out what drive identifier to use. you can test your configuration with "robtest" we have the vtl show with 9940 tape drives so the robot in nb is an l700. we don't use the vtl all that much but it has worked without any major issues.
Duplication and Vaulting is still an issue for us. NB duplication is slow from vtl to phys tape. We tried scheduling our dups with vault but It can be really bad considering you can only run one Vault Job at a time (apparently this will no longer be the limit in 6.0). Therefore, we're planning to have Falconstor come back and explain to us how their vault/dup add-on works. We were told this can be all done on the back-end with limited involvement from NB.
