VxSS - I do not have access to access management in the Java GUI

Upon installing 5.1 MP5, i have lost access to access management via the Java GUI - Unix Master Server (Solaris 8).

I was previously on MP4 and for my sins upgraded to MP5.

If I logon using my own userID then, I get the problem, but when I log on as root, which is not always possible, I have access to Access Management and I am able to add and remove users.

I am a member of the NBU_Security Admin and NBU_Admin.

I have tailed my login session and noticed that, when NBU runs the following command I get 1

# /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpnbaz -J -IsSecAdmin
1
Operation completed successfully.

I should get 0 as I have looked on my other production systems.

# /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpnbaz -J -IsSecAdmin
0
Operation completed successfully.

Can someone provide some advice?

Junaid,

Cool name..

OK

Ready

Check this

root@solaris_master-/usr/openv/java # cat auth.conf
root ADMIN=ALL JBP=ALL
* ADMIN=JBP JBP=ENDUSER+BU+ARC
junaid_helpdesker ADMIN=AM+BPM+MM+REP+JBP+DM
junaid_wannbe ADMIN=AM+MM
junaid ADMIN=ALL

Check your Java patches too.

export your display

and
run

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/jnbSA &

I wish life was that easy - James.

What you suggested above, has already been done.

junaid ADMIN=ALL JBP=ALL

, plus i have installed the java, client and Solaris patches.

> cat /usr/openv/pack/pack.summary
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE !

This is a weird one, when I had this problem before, i changed the permission of /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops to read, write and execute and it started allowing me access. But upon installing the latest patches, this has stopped. I do not have this problem, when i login as root, only myself and colleagues. My id was originally used to create the SecuritySetup.

Do you have any other ideas ??????

Thanks for the complement. :>

Junaid,

Can you telnet and into the server with your ID?

as root tail your log trace file.

it should look like this.

and its in this directory

/usr/openv/java/logs

-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 438 Apr 25 15:07 junaid.jnbSA.22602.log

tell me what the log says.

also

remeber if you patch you Solaris box you have to patch your Billy gates PC's java console too.

to eliminate you PC desktop log directly into the system using --->>

Try using hummingbird desktop logging into CDE and export you display
export DISPLAY=your_ip_address:0.0
jnbSA

James,
My Windows PC is patched to MP5 with Java and i still experience the problem. The problem that I am describing is via the Exceed console.

I have investigated the problem and looked through the logs on two production servers. One with MP4 and the other with MP5 and noticed via the admin logs, I am being denied permission.

I got this confirmed with Veritas, who agree that there is bug in MP5 for VxSS and they are looking into finding a resolution.
