IF the backup is a file system backup, review three general areas for more information on the Status Code 1:

  • Activity Monitor | Job Details | Status window.
  • NBU Problems report
  • Bpbkar log on the client

IF Backups using the NetBackup Database Agent

  • NBU Problems report
  • User_ops/dbext
  • Oracle: DBCLIENT log on client, RMAN script output log
  • SAP: backint log on client, brrestore script output log
  • DB2: bpdb2 log on client
  • Informix: infxbsa log on client, BAR script output log, BAR_act log
  • SQL: DBCLIENT log on the client.

please let me know if backup type is some else.

STATUS CODE 1 or 13: NetBackup Exchange 2003 mailbox backups fail with a NetBackup Status Code 1 (the requested operation was partially successful) or 13 (file read failed) when the Inbox has 2000 or more subfolders.

Exact Error Message
status code 1: the requested operation was partially successful;
status code 13:
file read failed

Details:

Overview:
Attempts to perform NetBackup Exchange 2003 mailbox backups fail with a NetBackup Status Code 1:  the requested operation was partially successful; or status code 13:  file read failed, when the Inbox has 2000 or more subfolders.

Troubleshooting:
Review the bpbkar log file on the Exchange server to determine on which mailbox the backup is failing.  The bpbkar log should indicate a failure message below:

MAPIFolder::RetrieveProps(): Failed to get property list

Additionally, a message below may be logged to the Application Event log:

Event ID: 9646
Type: Error
Source: MSExchangeIS
Description:
Closing Mapi session "/o=Organization/ou=Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=user" because it exceeded the maximum of 500 objects of type "objFolder".

Additionally, review the following registry location for the "objtFolder" setting:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem

If it doesn't exist, it is set to the default value of 500.

Log files:  N/A

Resolution:
This failure corresponds to a failure of Exchange when hitting an upper limit of objtFolder default.  Increasing this value will resolve the backup issue, please consult the Q article below for more information:
