MamaCeceTram
Level 3

Recently we have had several of our backups finishing partially sucessful due to the following error on variuos drvies and clients.

Error bpbrm (pid=3224) from client *****.**** : ERR - failure reading raw device: \\.\D: (WIN32 2: The system cannot find the file specified. )

Can anyone assist in troubleshooting this particular issue?

What is your policy type? Flashbackup for Windows?

Please post policy output - on master server, run 'bppllist <policy-name> -U'.

Check that  NetBackup Client Service account has sufficient priveleges to access backup selection. Often the default LocalSystem account does not have sufficient privileges.

Check for Marianne suggessions and also check following:

Drive may be a Clustered drive and failedover to the other node. in that case you cannot run Flash backups.

Check if the Flash backup policy is configured properly.

Since the clients vary this could have multiple answers....I will give an example of the most recent failures. As I will have to have another team check the priviliges I have reached out and will be able to confirm such at a later time. Here is what information I have now:

Policy Type: MS-Windows-NT

Here are the details I have:

Hey.. Looks like you are running ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES or multiple backup seletions in the Flash backup policy.

It is suggested to run a sinlge backup selection for a Flash policy.

Our backups have been running this way for quite a while now and they have been fine. As I mentioned before this is a new error and now we are encountering other difficulties as well. Robot errors which I have posted another discussion regarding those. We have a ticket open for these issues so I suppose we will see what happens there but thanks for the feedback.

By the way Marianne I told you I would get back to you on the privliges but our Windows Admin is out and I won't have that feedback anytime soon. Hopefully our other efforts will pay off.
