Want two catalog backups but second copy to a pool other than "Catalog Backup"

Each morning we have a script that ejects all tapes used in the last 24 hours unless they are in our "onsite" pool.  I went to make a change to my Hot Catalog backup policy so the first copy would go to the CatalogBackup pool (and thus go offsite) but the second copy would go to the "onsite" pool (and thus stay in the silo).  But it looks like I can't choose any pool other than CatalogBackup. Has anyone had a need for both an offsite and an onsite copy and found a good way to do this?

Have you tried to create another pool and select catalog backup option?
I don't have access to a server or documentation right now, but I seem to remember that another pool can also be marked at catalog pool.

Hi sclind,

If I understood correclty you need to have two copies of catalog backup...So I did a test using SLP with Catalog pool, and I create a new copy on different tape. Could be something like that?

In your catalog policy, do you not have a disaster recovery location specified? That should count as your local copy and the one written to tape is sent offsite. You can even email it to a distribution group/yourself to count as another local copy.

I know the Disaster Recovery path will be where the catalog recovery file will be written to (and I do mail a copy offsite).

But I really need a copy of the catalog itself (which is on the tape). I think we're talking different things; right?

I have never used SLP's before. Let me take a look at your screenshots and see what I can do. TY!

It did allow me to create a second Catalog Backup pool (I was suprised at that).  I am testing that now.
