NetBackup media server  is running Operating System Windows 2008 Standard edition -  whereas 64 GB RAM is installed on this server. I am planning to patch the server with  OS Windows 2008 Enterprise edition to make full use of 64GB RAM.

What are the requirements for Netbackup media server Windows  2008  Standard to be upgraded to  Windows 2008 Enterprise 64 bit OS ?

I agree with Nagalla.

If 'upgrade' actually means complete OS reinstall, there is a chance that tape device paths may change after reinstall.

So, this is how I would do it (assuming you have tape and/or disk on media server):

Delete all tape devices for this media server from NBU.
Deactivate media server.
Deactivate policies for media server.
Upgrade/Install Windows using same hostname and IP address.
Ensure devices can be seen/accessed at OS level.
Mount/map disk storage to same path as before.
Install and patch NBU.
Confirm connectivity between master and media server.
Activate media server.
Run device config wizard to re-add tape drives.
Activate policies for media server.

i guess there is nothing is required from netbackup end...since all configurations are stored in Master server.

do make sure you have taken the full backup of media server if required any recovery.

do make sure all drives are connected and visible in OS level after upgrade.
