Thanks to SymTerry and Sulivan for your information

From your point i can use a single policy for both platforms.

Here I have another question

What is the benefit of hypervisor client instead of  Linux client ? Can I need to directly install it on hypervisor like ESX   or on top of OS like Linux ?

actually oracle database is running on my virtual machine, if i am going to use standard policy i can create separate policy for Oracle DB (like normal physical machine), suppose if i use Vmware policy in nbu and take a full backup of my VM with hypervisor client , in this case also can i need a separate policy for Data base ?

Thanks in advance for your support

regards,

Giri

I think Sulivan may have answered your question over here

Personally I like to backup any system I can at the hypervisor level when possible.  ....
The benefit is being able to restore the virtual faster.

Vmware gives you best of both:
Recover entire machine or recover indivudual files.

If you upgrade to NBU 7.6, there are further advantages for VMware policies.

For Oracle RMAN backups, you will need a separate Oracle policy for this client.

If the rman script name and path is identical on all Oracle clients, you can add them to the same policy.

If anything is different, create own Oracle policy for each Oracle client.

Thanks Marianne for your information.

in your reply you have mentioned that for Oracle , i need a separete policy other than VM's policy.

so can i add this VM's oracle backup into my existing Orcale policy which is created for another server's DB

Thanks and regards,

Giri
