What is the difference between tpconfig and tlmd commands?

Hi All,

I'm trying to find the differences between these two commands in Netbackup.

In the Netbakcup 7.6 TroubleShooting Guide, there is the same explanation for the commands. So, I couldn't understand how they work separately.

Can you help me to the explanation?

Regards,

Duygu

There is a big difference. tlmd is just a process, its not a command line utility and on the other hand tpconfig is a tape configration utility.

You can check the Netbackup command guide for the details.

tlmd

The Tape Library Multimedia daemon is the interface between ltid
and a TLM robot that is in an ADIC Distributed AML Server (DAS).
This daemon communicates with the TLM robotics through a
network API interface.

tpconfig

I think the tpconfig entry is incorrect; it is not the same as tlmd.

I have never heard of tlmd command or process and never needed to know in 16 years of working with NBU. I was wondering if there was perhaps a typo error and the intended command/process something else?

Thanks Andrew. So, this is for an API type robot. I have only ever worked with TLD (tldcd) and ACS (acsd) robots/ process. Never with ADIC Distributed AML Server (tlmd). There is a chapter in NBU Admin Guide II that covers API type robots, how it works and how to config it.
