We have a server running Ubuntu 10.10 and need a NetBackup 6.5 client. I've found numerous articles saying Ubuntu is now a supported client but none of them offer a link to the client. Anyone know where I can download the client?

Hi,
There is no specific client for it as far as I can see. You'll have to try either of the Linux install (redhat/suse) available on File Connect....

Like Bill said, you want to use the info as specified in these TechNotes:
Ubuntu 8.04 and Debian 4 are now supported as a client in NetBackup 6.5.2. Ubuntu 9.10 is now supported as a client in NetBackup 6.5.5. This document describes the details/conditions of that support.

Hi Bill,
With these type of clients that get supported in later mp versions i.e. 6.5.5 or 6.5.6, should you still try and install the 6.5 client from the original media? Will it even work? Or is your best bet pushing it from a linux master that has been patched to 6.5.6?
Don't see to many linux clients but I'm interested to know none the less.

I don't have any Ubuntu clients but RedHat client pushed from the fully patched Master works just fine.
That is to say after installing 6.5 then 6.5.x on the Master, it's just a one-step process to install a new client (or update an existing one).

Thats what I thought. If you're lucky enough to NOT have a windows master :)
