Hi,

Is there any way to discover which user issued a restore in NBU ? (NBU 7.0.1 - Linux)

Thanks.

Not unless you are running nbac (netbackup access control).

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO46963

Audit Trails are turned on by default in NetBackup 7.1 therefore OpsCenter (no Analytics key is required) will be able to report on them by default.  Unless NBAC is installed and configured, NetBackup is run by root/administrator so reporting without NBAC will only show changes made by root/administrator. To make audit trails truly useful, NBAC and granular users should be considered.

If the restore is initiated from the client the user will be displayed in the activity monitor under details. If the restore is initiated from the master server console there is no direct way to see it unless you have set up  user access control or java logging (and java logging will only under some circumstances show the user).

update: too late for Martin :D

Good point Nicolai, I didn't think of that - but I guess you are still stuck if you are logged into the client as root/ administrator.
