While installing client NBU 6.5.6 Getting " Segmentation fault " Error

Hello Techies,

Could you please help to get rid out this issue. While installing the NBU 6.5.6 Client software on a linux machine, getting this errors. Not sure what it causing......

This client backup was failing with RC 24, we checked all ports, firewalls, comm to client from master is ok, but client to master not ok, checked ,hosts files everything ok. we noticed bp.conf file was not there, we have created it manually, even thats unlucky. Hence we have decided to re install the nbu software. but getting this error.

Before reinstalltion we get the same segmentation fault error while doing all bpclntcmd comand from client.

Hello,

I've tended to see this type of behavoir when either a library has become corrupted, or the path variable has been altered. I'd check to see if /usr/openv/lib is at the start of your path, and check out the dependancies. 

I also once saw this for an install of a version below that which was supported for a client, so make sure that your particular flavour matches the install version (e.g whilst normal procedure for getting to 6.5.6 might be to install 6.5 and then patch, if support started in 6.5.4 then you install that as the base version before the patch).

Which distro of linux are you unsing? Tell us more about your OS.

Also check if xinetd os running. This is not related to segmentation fault error, but at least it must be running to the client work well.

Check command 

getenforce

If you get output: Enforcing

try to do setenforce 0

Sorry for all, as i was hosptialised due to accident, return back last week, Luckly i saw the email alert with Marine comments. First i would like to say Very Thanks to all.

Just i enquired about the status of this issue with my team, saying " Symantec suggested to upgrade the OS version as the server was running on AIX 4 earlier it had some OS binary issue and fixed by team.

However AIX 4 is out of support, also this is not compatible with 7.5 NBU. Unforutaly OS team cannot go with OS upgradation and symantec canot go with lower version. Hence Server team taken the data with OS Backup and planning for decom this server later.

There is no intention to respond, everything happend on its way. I would like to very thankful all whoever helps me on this forum.

" Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 8) is not  supported in
latest version 7.5.x and all, and 6.5.x is out of support version of netbackup.
So will suggest you to upgrade version of OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux  so that
you can install latest version of netbackup 7.5.x  for further support"
